NTHU Professors Visit DChE

Distinguished professors from the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) of Taiwan visited the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of the Philippines Los Banos, to explore and discuss possible academic collaborations between the two Universities in the field of Chemical Engineering.

They came to the University last October 22, 2018 and were hosted by Associate Professor Myra Borines and Assistant Professor Ramon Christian Eusebio. The four professors, Dr. Ruey-an Doong, Dr. Yuh-Chang Sun, Dr. Hsin-Cheng Chiu, and Dr. Chien-Hou Wu introduced their department and presented their researches to the faculty and staff of the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Dr. Sun introduced the university, including a brief history and the current world rankings. On the other hand, Dr. Wu presented his research about photocatalytic reactions and its applications in the treatment of environmental pollutants. Dr. Chiu presented his research on Biomaterials and Drug Controlled Release; while Dr. Doong presented his research on Carbon-based nanomaterials with regards to the water nexus and sensing. Professor Borines introduced them to the UPLB Department of Chemical Engineering faculty and staff and facilitated the discussions. The discussions on future collaborations between the two departments were positive and encouraging.
