Marilyn C. del Barrio is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering in UP Los Banos. She has worked as supervisor (production and quality assurance) in the manufacturing industry for 8 years before entering the academe in 2004. Prof. del Barrio received both her BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from UP Los Banos in 1996 and 2008, respectively. She is presently teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the university. Her research interests mostly centers on the application of engineering concepts in microorganisms like microbial cell production, cell immobilization and enzyme production (rennet, bacteriocins) in partnership with BIOTECH. She has also been part of other studies which focused on the use of photocatalysis for treating wastewaters.
