Stephen Salve Doliente is an Assistant Professor (on-study leave) in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños.  He holds degrees in B.Sc. Chemical Engineering cum laude and M.Sc. Energy Engineering from UP Diliman. As a licenced chemical engineer, he had a project engineer experience with Chiyoda Philippines Corporation (2012 – 2013).  Before joining the Department in 2016, he also held research assistant and research assosciate positions in UP Diliman (2013 – 2014) and Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2014-2015), respectively. His research interests in the past eight years are on sustainable energy and chemical technologies such as biofuels, nanofluids, flue gas desulfurisation and waste valorisation. He is currently pursing his Ph.D. Research Programme in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath (2018 – present) on biomass value chains and the environment-food-energy-water nexus in the Philippines: whole-systems analysis and optimisation.  His PhD Project aims to develop robust and efficient value chains for the rich biomass resources of the Philippines while providing maximum benefits and minimum impacts to the environment-food-energy-water nexus of the country.
